Circus Birthday Party

I love to entertain.

If I had a million dollars I would throw a huge party {after some much needed shopping} with extravagant foods, gorgeous flowers, and hand pressed linens.  Oh, and a chocolate fountain.  It’s not a party without a chocolate fountain.

As much fun as an expensive night of partying sounds {and a chocolate fountain} throwing a party doesn’t have to cost a lot.  With a little creativity and elbow grease a little can go a long way!

Recently my baby turned one.  If you follow me on Twitter than you may have seen my #littlesquirt hashtag and the name suits him.  He is the smallest of my children {which pleases me to no end} and he is definitely a squirt which in my family means he is way too smart for his own good.

To celebrate his momentous birthday I decided to go with a circus theme.  I saw some fabulous decorating ideas awhile back on Studio 5 and I knew that this was it!  I don’t always plan parties so far in advance {okay, maybe I do} but I love not feeling rushed and having the time to think about the smaller details.

The key to decorating on a budget, especially in this case, is use what you have!  I used different size jars, dishes, and containers and filled them with inexpensive candies, crackers, and peanuts.  Not only were they a fun decoration but they also made for some great munchies!

I brought in lots of fun colors for our circus themed party but you could easily choose two or three colors to incorporate in your party.

For a beautiful little girl’s circus party check out The Diva Dish who threw a Vintage Circus Party for her beautiful baby!

I made this adorable banner out of scrapbook paper and ribbon from Simply Kelly B.  Check out her blog for the directions for this banner as well as lots of other fun ideas!  I must admit I started a bit late on this one and found myself rushing a bit at the end but it was worth it!

Just remember to be creative {or steal borrow ideas from others} and you can throw a great party too!
