Buried Treasure Muffins

What is it about a grocery store that turns little boys into monsters?

A trip to the grocery store can turn the most mild mannered, well behaved child into a crazy maniac bounding down the aisles, asking “Can I have that?” every 30 seconds.

Kid catnip.  There is no other explanation.

As you can imagine I had a delightful experience this weekend as my four boys and I ventured into the grocery.  Together.  All of us.  At the same time.  By myself.

No matter how many “discussions” we have before we enter the store as soon as they enter those doors it’s as if those little talks has never happened.  I mean, what do they hear any way!?  Do I sound like the adults on the Peanuts?  Wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa.

Probably.  We went in and I tried to get out as quick as humanly possible.  With four boys.

But not before being stopped {because we are kinda a walking freak show with four boys, I say that in the nicest way possible} and asked, “FOUR boys!?”

“Yes.” I reply with the nicest smile I could muster.

“You must be so proud.” she said.

“Oh, yes.  Yes, I am” I stutter as I look over to see my oldest son chasing his brother around a pole and my 3 year old screaming in the cart that he wants to get out.  “So proud”

Of course she saw them for the sweet little angels they are but it still didn’t change the fact that I will never take my kids shopping again.

Until next week when I have to.

  1. These look so tasty! I can’t even imagine going to the store with four kiddos! You’re brave.

  2. MMM… I’ll have to try those tomorrow morning. I’m sure my bunch will LOVE them! And if it makes you feel any better Krista, I stopped taking my 5 at the same time to the store. I’d rather…not.=)

  3. Yum, these look good. My daughter would love to help me make these for breakfast!

  4. Yes, my tot has already learned the ropes of misbehaving right when he crosses through that grocery store door. I’ve decided to grocery shop Saturday mornings now instead, when I can leave him home with dad. 🙂

  5. I struggle with one almost 3-year old and a 10-month old – I seriously admire you!! And these muffins look so good!

  6. 4 boys are really hard to manage. But i bet they will love you more with those muffins and will surely make you smile. It really looks good and i would love to try that maybe this weekend. I hope my kids will love it too.
