Painted Sugar Cookies

It’s the simple things that make life enjoyable.

Like the other night for example. After a very busy day {with an emphasis on VERY} we were all finally home, sitting around the dinner table. That in and of itself was enough to make me smile but what ensued after dinner is what sent me over the edge.

Despite the fact that bedtime was ticking closer and closer we proceeded to dazzle everyone with bodily tricks. Twisting our tongues, playing jokes on each other, making faces.

Can you stick out your tongue and touch your nose?

You just tried didn’t you!? Awesome.

Mr asked the 3 yr old that question and he promptly stuck out his tongue and, with his finger, touched his nose.

What the heck? He is only 3 and already he is figuring out our tricks. Of course we all laughed.

The best part about the entire 15 minutes was that it was completely unplanned, it was free, and everyone went to bed feeling much happier.

With Easter upon us I can’t help but feel thankful for moments like these that shine a ray of light on a busy, somewhat over-scheduled family. It reminds me to slow down a bit.

Of course, by the next day I had forgotten the joys of stopping time for a moment and was off and running again. I can’t help it…it’s what I do.

I did make some time to do a really fun project with the kids, an hour before we had to be at soccer. Not great planning on my part.

We painted sugar cookies. Oh my goodness. You need to do this whether you have kids or not. It is so much fun and you probably have everything you need at home already.

Take the time this weekend to slow down. Enjoy those unexpected moments when time seems to stop, even for a minute.

Happy Easter!

  1. How fun is that! What a cute idea!

  2. This is so cute! What a great post- I sympathize with the craziness of life. It is a wonderful feeling to enjoy your children in sweet and memorable moments 🙂

  3. These cookies are so adorable, I want to do that too. I wish my grandkids were here cuz I would definitely be on this. Thanks and have a wonderful Easter

  4. This is so, so cute! 🙂

  5. How did I miss this?? The cutest cookies ever 🙂

  6. That paint is such a great way to decorate them. My kids often get frustrated because it’s harder to make specific designs with frosting. I’ll have to remember this one!

  7. Good idea! I bet that’s easier that piping the designs.
