My Weekend at Camp Blogaway

It’s not very often that something comes around that changes your life.

Starting a blog has changed my life.  Much like getting married, having children and moving to a new home has shifted the direction my life has taken so has blogging.  I don’t love the term “Mommy Blogger” but that is what I am.  I am a mommy.  I am a blogger.  My mommy job always comes before my blogger job.

Since I choose to stay home with my children blogging has allowed me to embrace those things that make me special apart from being a mom.  It has opened doors that I didn’t even know existed, let alone that I had the key to open them.

This past weekend I attended Camp Blogaway where I joined 100+ other professionals to get away from it all in Angelus Oaks, California.  I feel like I left there with a few more keys to doors I may have in my future.

You might want to sit down at this point because you are going to get the whole skinny on the long weekend.  Grab a piece of chocolate.  Or cheese.  Or both.

I flew in early Thursday morning to spend the day with my family.

We went to lunch, went shopping, went to dinner, we had a cheese plate, we had cheesecake.  Seriously the best. day. ever.

My fabulous sponsor for the event, Redwood Hill Farm, sent some of their artisan goat cheese ahead of me and I was able to enjoy it with my Grandfather which is the reason I’m a total cheese fanatic in the first place. {You’ll be hearing more about that with a giveaway later!}

Is he so cute or what!?  I swear he could be a food stylist.

It was wonderful seeing my family but Friday came and I had to put my business face on.

I drove up with Diane {Created by Diane} and Rachael {La Fuji Mama}.  Two fabulous women who inspire me everyday.  True story.

As if hanging out with them wasn’t enough I also got to finally meet Shawn {I Wash…You Dry} who I met through our blogs over a year ago.  We could be twins folks.

More fabulous men and woman came with amazing stories and insights to share.

Mango S’mores sponsored by

We ate.

Cheese Tasting by Kerrygold USA

We learned.

Dinner sponsored by Cutco {I think}  I’m sorry if it was another sponsor!

We ate.

We slept…kinda.  Take my advice, pack ear plugs.

It was a weekend packed with morsels of information.  In fact, I was grateful for the extra day I had to process everything before I arrived home Monday night to some pretty giddy munchkins.

I’m looking forward to continuing the friendships I made, using the information I learned, and, most importantly, finding those doors and taking them where they lead me.

Thank you for the wonderful experience campers!  And a special shout out to our fearless leader Patti Londre {Worth the Whisk}.  You did a fantastic job!
