Double Chocolate Doughnut {Alphabet Summer – Letter D}

The biggest problem I had when writing this recipe was how to spell doughnuts.

Or donuts.

Either way, they are delicious but I used to be still am a spelling nerd.  Seeing something spelled incorrectly like “here” when what you really mean is “hear” or “to” instead of “too”…nails on a chalkboard to me.

Good thing I have chocolate doughnuts {or donuts} to distract me from stopping everyone I see and explain the difference between the use of “to” and “too.”  I’ve almost done it.  Almost.  I told you…spelling nerd.

Plus, the kids thought these were a pretty awesome way to celebrate Alphabet Summer.  I did too.

  1. Perfect – now I don’t need to figure out a baked chocolate doughnut recipe! And seriously, I had to laugh because I too made chocolate doughnuts yesterday (fried old fashioned though – you know, extra calories at our house and all that!). And, oh how I love that doughnut lovin’ face! What a cutie!

  2. I need to get a donut/doughnut pan!!!! Donut was my daughter’s first word…so my fault, I love them! ;0

  3. I’m totally a spelling nerd too! Lol–these doughnuts look so decadent and sooooo yummy!

  4. They look really yummy! And I can see that you had someone who thought the same 😀

  5. While I think I LOVE those donuts… that smile takes the cake!! Liv would love these!

  6. Oh my! These donuts look amazing. That melted chocolate on top looks amazing!

  7. LOL- seriously I always wonder how to spell the “D” word! These look mighty tasty! 🙂

  8. I always always always order the double chocolate doughnut when visiting Dunkin’ Donuts. But, I should really start making them at home, too. 🙂

  9. I decided to just go with donuts. Seems more American to me. Love the double chocolate combo. Dunford chocolate cake donuts are my favorite.

  10. Double chocolate! Good thing these only make six doughnuts or I’d be in trouble!

  11. One question: The ingredients call for baking soda, but the instructions state baking powder. Since I’m not much of a baker, I’m unsure as to which one to use. 🙂

    • Oh goodness, I am so sorry! That is the third time this week I’ve made a mistake on a recipe. I must be tired! It is baking powder NOT baking soda. Thanks for letting me know Cheryl. I’ve fixed it on the printable recipe.

  12. No worries; mistakes happen. 🙂 Being tired goes with being a mom. 🙂 Thanks for the quick reply!

  13. Reading this made me soooo hungry! I’m going to have to give these a try.

  14. OH EM GEE, Krista! Those look amazing!!!!! One more reason to get a donut pan… haha. Great post 🙂

  15. Those are stunning, Krista! You know, we need to discuss you guest posting on my blog… 🙂
