Pack Your Own Pizza {Back to School with Glad}

I don’t know about you but I took my lunch to school a lot when I was kid.

I had your typical PB&J with a bag of chips or pretzels and sliced apples stuffed into a brown paper bag.  I could almost always count on a cute note from my mom saying “I love you” or “You are super!” and I could also almost always count on my lunch somehow migrating to the bottom of backpack where it would get cozy between my heaviest notebooks giving it the appearance that it had been run over by a large four wheeler.  Ten times.

Smoosh city.

It still tasted fine and I was usually distracted by the typical 10 year old girl chatter about cute boys and the latest teen magazine to care too much but, as a Mom, I like to know the food I’m sending with my kids won’t make a pit stop at Smoosh city.

That’s why when I was contacted by Glad to try their line of food storage products it was a no brainer!

I’ve had a slight love affair with their products for forever.  I love the fact that their lids snap together making them easy to store and creating less chaos is my typically very chaotic container cupboard due to a little 2 year old who shall remain nameless.

I also love the fact that you can wash these making them more budget friendly, in my opinion, but not so costly that if the kids forget it at school you won’t go berserk because you spent $20 on it.  Of course, this has never happened to me.  I’ve just heard about it.  From friends.  Really.

Now as much as I love me a traditional PB&J Sandwich it’s nice to shake it up a bit and with the various sizes of Glad containers it’s easy!  I love the smaller sizes that make packing your very own pizza kit a breeze.  It also still fits in a brown paper sack.

 All I did was use a round cookie cutter to punch out 4 circles from a whole wheat tortilla {I scored a 12 pack for just $1!}.  I then placed them in a Glad container along with a string cheese and 4 pepperoni slices.  In a separate container place some pasta sauce for dipping.  When the kids get to school they can assemble their own pizzas!

A little tip from me to you…I like to freeze the pepperoni and cheese before packing them.  That way, in my crazy way of thinking, they stay colder longer and by the time lunch rolls around they are thawed.  I sure hope your kiddos love this as much as mine do!

I have partnered with The Glad Products Company through DailyBuzz Moms to help promote their Food Storage products. I have been compensated for my time commitment to review this product. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments. Thank you GLAD!

  1. Oh, I love the mini pizzas! This is just like bento boxes! ^_^

  2. Brilliant! It’s like the lunchables, but without all the processed gunk!

  3. Cute! I made a pizza bento box the other day for my kid’s lunch too… They loved it! Great idea on freezing the cheese and pepperoni.
