Overnight Stuffed French Toast

This coming weekend is something I look forward to every year.  Not only is cooler weather on it’s way but it happens to be the weekend that I get to watch church from my living room while snuggled under a blanket with my footie pajamas on.

And yes.  I really do have footie pajamas.  Courtesy of my in-laws one Christmas.  Not even kidding.

As much as I enjoy not having to go through the normal Sunday routine of trying to get 6 reasonably presentable people out of the door by 8:45 am it’s the spiritual growth and uplifting talks that I so enjoy.  Plus, the stuffed french toast which I’ll get to.

You may remember this post when I talked about my faith {The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints}.  This weekend is one of two every year where leaders from the church and various speakers talk {or preach, so to speak} about family, living a Christ-like life, serving others, etc.  It’s a time to be edified and I always go to bed on Sunday feeling a renewed sense of purpose.

Since I really want to pay attention to what the speakers are saying I don’t like to be stuck in the kitchen the whole morning but I reeeeeeaaaaalllllly love a cozy, full fledged, not a bowl of cereal breakfast on the weekends.  This is where Overnight Stuffed French Toast comes in.

You prepare it the night before and all the magic happens in the fridge.  Pop it in the oven the next morning and you’ll be chowing down on a plate of fresh french toast in no time.  Oh, and did I mention it has cream cheese?  Yea.  Even I can figure out a way to squeeze cheese into a french toast recipe.

As if this wasn’t good enough for the upcoming weekend, on Friday I’ll be sharing a syrup that is to die for so mark your calendar!

  1. Hahahaa my boyfriend has dinosaur footie pajamas-courtesy of my brother 😛

This overnight stuffed french toast looks PERFECT! Delicious and yummy and love that you prepare it the night before!

    • I am so relieved to hear I am not the only one with footie pajamas! My favorite thing about this recipe is you prepare it overnight too! I am not a morning person.

  2. Yum, this sounds like the perfect weekend breakfast!

  3. I am like you I love the two times a year we get to partake of church from the couch and have the Prophet and general auhorities in our house!! I’m always sad when the Sunday afternoon session is over. Love the spirit that it brings. My kids think they need cinnamon rolls every conference Sunday, but I am so loving your idea. Looks delicious and simple!! Can’t wait to try it out! Thanks for sharing!

    • Thanks Tiffanee! The last couple conferences I’ve made cinnamon rolls too but we also have a tradition of having them on Christmas Day. It was getting to be a bit too much so this is going to be our new tradition! So much less work and clean up. Today was wonderful and I look forward to tomorrow’s session!

  4. Dude. Footie pajamas are AWESOME. I’m right there with you. 😉 And this French toast is seriously going to have to happen in my kitchen sometime very soon. It sounds ridiculous, in the best possible way!

    • Ha! Thanks Allison! I’m so glad I have a fellow footie pajama follower. I just whipped out the flannels as the weather here gets colder. And yes, I did drive the kids to school in them. The time to embarrass them is now.

  5. love this recipe – i have a lot of leftover bagels/cream cheese and want to try…
