Cinnamon Tortilla Cake

Apparently I am REALLY into desserts right now.  I can’t help myself.  When the new year approaches and everyone is saying “I will not eat sugar for the whole year”,  “I am going to lose 10 pounds by summer”, “I need to lay off the soda” I get this itchin’ to create the exact opposite of what everyone thinks they want.  That’s because I know what you really want.

And I’m sharing that today with a group of women who do the exact same thing for women all over the world.  I have the absolute honor of guest posting on Time Out For Women.

My first experience with Time Out For Women was about a year and a half ago.  My mother-in-law and two sisters (in-laws) went for a girls weekend for their conference held in Salt Lake City.  It was nothing short of amazing.  Uplifting speakers, beautiful music, and a chance to be together to learn from one another.

I have since attended another weekend conference in 2012 and I am looking forward to attending this year’s conference, entitled “Higher”.  If there was one word to inspire your year it’s that.  Just take a look at their tagline!?  So when they contacted me to contribute to their website I was nothing short of stunned and grateful.

In conjunction with their inspiring theme this year I wanted to get in the kitchen with kids.  The heart of my home is the kitchen and all too often I am busy with the hustle and bustle of every day that I take the opportunity to do something just  for them.  This recipe is JUST for them.  I ignored the things I felt I “had” to do to inspire them to be creative.

I think it paid off and both my boys and my niece and nephew felt very accomplished when the day was through.  And aren’t they crazy photogenic!?  I just love those little buggers.

So without further ado…Cinnamon Tortilla Cake.  Makes the every day a bit more special.

The boys felt less inclined to “pose” as it were.  They still had fun though.  Especially when it came time to eat.

  1. Yum! That cake looks amazing. And I know my cinnamon loving 7 year old would go crazy for it. Going to check out your guest post!

  2. What a fun cake! Heading over to check out your guest post now.

  3. How creative! Yum 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  4. A life without desserts is like a day without sunshine.
This cake looks sooo tasty and yummy and like sopapillas (which I love)!

  5. Love this idea Krista. So fun for the kiddos. (and moms too)

  6. This looks naughty and dangerous…the type of dessert that I can never make unless I know without a doubt that I have a group of people to eat it, because otherwise I would eat every last crumb BY MYSELF. Mmmmm…

  7. Awesome, I’m not much of a photo dude either so I can relate to your boys staying in the shadow 🙂

  8. Totally cute! My daughters will always pose for a picture… my son… never. Must be a boy thing. The cake sounds delish and fun to make too!
