<p>Software engineering teams create all
these platforms for every other industry, and yet, they are the ones working in
the dark. Easily accessible data that comes out of engineering, such as Lines
of Code, is not valuable if taken isolated. </p>

<p>The challenge is getting into the
engineering process and sorting through the mountains of data that engineers
produce. Engineers write code and work together. With this in mind, Waydev
invented a new category of data that enables engineering managers to look at
their engineering teams from a business value perspective. </p>

<p>One of the hurdles regarding engineering
is that the win condition is not always clear. The feedback that engineers
commonly receive is &#8216;go faster.&#8217; No matter how engineers do, that&#8217;s not
valuable feedback, and it&#8217;s also demoralizing. </p>

<p>Take sales teams as an example. The win
condition of sales teams is hitting their quota. When they hit their quota,
they are free from pressures. </p>

<p>Engineering teams are expected to deliver
while keeping a high velocity. This is possible only in a utopic business. In
reality, agile teams set up their deliverables and start working. Then,
invariably, someone is going to come into the engineering department and say,
&#8220;You&#8217;re doing great, but we also need you to add this pile of work to
everything you&#8217;re doing right now.&#8221; </p>

<p>In this way, scope creep sneaks into your
quota and becomes a part of your actual quota, and your engineering team is
expected to accept that. </p>

<p>Let&#8217;s imagine you have one product owner
in your organization. His requirements are not always clear, which creates a
lot of friction between you, the engineering team, and the stakeholders. </p>

<p>This is when Git Analytics tools, such as
Waydev,<a href="https://waydev.co/gitprime-vs-waydev-vs-code-climate/"> </a><a href="https://waydev.co/gitprime-vs-waydev-vs-code-climate/">Gitprime Pluralsight Flow</a>, and Code Climate
come into play. Waydev provides data that helps engineering managers advocate
for their engineering teams, while also providing a reliable data source for
granular feedback. </p>

<p>Waydev isn&#8217;t just for engineering
managers. Waydev provides an overview of your organization&#8217;s engineering
processes that ultimately helps executives understand and increase the business
value of their engineering department.</p>

<p>In the context of this global crisis, we
thrive to be the tool that helps organizations reduce costs by increasing
engineering efficiency instead of putting engineering managers in the position
to lay off their colleagues, especially in this uncertain economic climate.</p>
