Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers

With the weather warming up my thoughts are turned to eating lighter fare.  Grilling up some turkey burgers is the perfect alternative to the traditional ground beef.  Turkey meat is a great palette to work with when adding different flavors.  It is lean and has a very subtle flavor.  When I saw my local grocery store advertise it as a buy 1 get 1 free I jumped at the chance to buy some!  With ground turkey in hand I got home and whipped up these Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers.  Full of flavor and easy to put together, your family is going to love these!

Asian Inspired Turkey Burgers

  • 2 lbs lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tblsp ketchup
  • 1 tblsp rice wine vinegar
  • 3 tblsp green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup carrots, shredded
  • spicy mayo (recipe below)

Preheat a large skillet or grill over medium-high heat.  Place the turkey in a medium bowl.  In a small bowl whisk the soy sauce, ketchup, and vinegar.  Pour into the turkey and mix.  Add the bread crumbs, green onions, and pepper.  Continue to mix with a spoon until it is completely incorporated.  Form into 8 equal patties and grill for a few minutes on both sides.  Meanwhile, mix the cabbage and carrots.  Once patties are cooked serve on hamburger buns smeared with spicy mayo and top with the cabbage/carrot mixture.

Spicy Mayo

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tblsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • a couple shakes of red pepper flakes

Mix all of the ingredients in a small bowl and serve with the turkey burgers.

  1. These look great! I’ve been wanting to do an Asian style burger with chicken.

  2. Yum ! I like finding new variations on healthy staples I make often. Will definitely try this !

  3. Hi Krista

Your sandwich looks lovely! I love mayo in my sandwiches. I actually add a little Lingham’s chilli sauce which has a little sweet taste to the mayo for that extra kick.

Thanks also for inviting us at foodbuzz! 🙂

    • I definitely want to try the chili sauce. I think it would give it a much bigger kick. Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment…it always puts a smile on my face 🙂 Welcome to Foodbuzz!
