Homemade Toffee

On Sunday night the mr and I sat in the kitchen while I cooked and for a good portion of the night listened to downloadable ringtones.

We are so cool.

You can find anything on there.  Not surprisingly my favorites were the fart ones.

I am so gross.

My mother is going to disown me.

If you want to get to know someone sit down for an hour with them and listen to iTunes. The mr and I have so much fun wasting time

after the kids have gone bed. Plus, we get to listen to all the 80’s tunes we love.

Oh those were good times.

Go play in the kitchen tonight, listen to crazy downloadable ring tones and whip up a batch of this.

Butter, sugar, chocolate, nuts.  It’s so good it should be illegal.

  1. Just awesome stuff – i can not stop eating this, so dangerous! Happy Holidays!

  2. toffee is my favorite – this looks good!

Jason recently downloaded a bunch of ringtones to my phone… my ring is now Bill Murray saying “cannonball” from Caddyshack, and my ping notification is the “dun dun” bell from Law and Order. 🙂

  3. I’m afraid to make this — unless someone else is around, I will eat the whole batch!

  4. I LOVE Homemade Toffee!! Yours looks delicious 🙂

  6. Playing music while in the kitchen definitely sets a better mood for me, so why do I never do it? Because the hubs decided to jerry-rig (sp?) the stereo so I have no idea how to use it. 🙂 Maybe he’ll teach me how if I promise to make him this toffee!

    • (Better clarify – he didn’t mess with the stereo to keep me from using it. He messed with it, therefore I no longer know how to use it and am too lazy to either ask or just figure it out. I really do have a loving husband.) 😉

      • I’m sure he is the best, Nikki! My hubs does stuff like that too to “make it better”. If only I were as smart as him. I swear I need a cheat sheet sometimes to remember how to work the entertainment center!

  7. I love toffee too, I made some this week to giveaway but of course I had to sample some as well! Your recipe looks great.

  8. I knew we were meant to be friends! Haha- fart ringtones! Classic! I am going to make this toffee tomorrow! Yummy!

  9. I liked the idea of making toffee at night with mu husband while having good music flowing around. I would definitely try this out and give a nice surprise to my lovely kids.

  10. Thanks for sharing the recipe, I will try to make one for new years eve for my children.

  11. Sounds like a romantic way to spend time with your partner. It is good to remember the old days. You and Mr. should do that more often. I will give it a try to. Thank you for the recipe and hope you can visit me at derivative as well.
