How to Fight Like a Girl {My Aunt’s Lasting Legacy}

Every year around this time my aunt and all of her supporters walk.

Walk to show support.  Walk to fight.  Walk for the cure.

This is the first year that my aunt can’t join us.  She lost is losing her battle with breast cancer and we are left feeling helpless and devastated.  Her smile, her laughter, her joy taken from us too soon from cancer.  And it sucks.  Cancer sucks.

The two best words to describe her really are bad and ass.  No other way to put it.  Despite the pain she was experiencing as the cancer metastasized in her bone she took Advil.  She fought down to the last second for chemo until the doctors said we’ve done all we can do.  She lived each day the best she could, refusing to give cancer the upper hand.  Bad. Ass.

I only hope I somehow inherited a fraction of her genes because the fight against cancer has only just begun.  She may not have the strength to fight anymore but I sure can and I expect you to join in.  I don’t think there is one person on this entire planet not affected in some way by cancer so please join me during the month of October to support Susan G Komen {my aunt’s favorite charity} in Walk for the Cure.

Look for a “race” to join in on around your area.  Make a donation.   Or look for other opportunities to show your support on their website.

To show my support not only will I be flying the colors here on BGM all month long but I’ll be donating all my ad revenue that I make this month to the cause so please share.  Get others involved.  Let this be my aunt’s lasting legacy and final stand.
